Maputo maintains twinning ties with cities across several continents, from Lisbon, its former colonial capital, to African partners Durban, Lagos, and Luanda, plus the Brazilian cities Brasília and Rio de Janeiro, and the Chinese cities Chengdu and Shanghai. Every one of these pairings is recorded here as mutual, with both sides naming each other, forming a consistent set of reciprocal relationships spanning South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
